FAQs

What teaching system do you operate?

We focus on the concept that children are active rather than passive learners. Children learn through play. By experiencing different things around them, children in early years discover the world by directly interacting with it.

Is milk included in the term fees?

Milk is offered as part of our service to all the children where their dietary requirements allow.

Do you have a special provision for 2 year olds?

Yes, we have a designated area for the 2-year-olds which reflects the specific needs of the children in this age group.

What schools do the children move on to?

Children will normally join local primary schools such as Burlington Primary School, Grand Avenue and Coombe Hill. We have established a good network with those schools and every year we arrange visits to support the transition from our Nursery to Reception at a local primary school.

Can a child’s lunch be heated at the Nursery?

Yes, we have a microwave in our kitchen and, as part of our daily routine, we will check all the lunchboxes to make sure that we heat up any lunches that require it.

What outside facilities are there?

We are fortunate to have a large grassed garden where children can play with slides, a climbing frame, a small trampoline, sand, and water pits. We also have a planting area which is used by the children to plant flowers and vegetables.

Is there an information group – WhatsApp – for parents and carers?

We use an app called FamlyApp. This is a closed group app and parents will be able to follow what the children are doing at nursery every week through regular photographs and commentary.

Do you have parents’/carers’ evenings?

We normally hold two parents’ meetings a year.  The first one in the Autumn term provides parents with information regarding how the children have settled into their group. The second meeting is in the summer term to provide information on the children’s development. We will also provide an End of year report.

How do you integrate Italian into the daily activities?

Through songs and games. The children hear and learn words in another language effortlessly. It is scientifically proven that exposing children to more than one language will support their cognitive development.
